Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Manuscripts submitted to Scientia Biologica Indonesia will go through a selection and assessment process by the Editorial Team to ensure that they comply with the writing guidelines, objectives, and scope of the journal, and that the manuscript meets high academic quality standards. The review process is carried out using the double-blind peer review method, which means that the identities of the authors and reviewers are kept confidential.

Table Review

At this stage, the manuscript will be evaluated to ensure its compliance with the journal's writing guidelines, focus, and scope, and to ensure good academic quality. If the manuscript does not meet the criteria, the author will be asked to make revisions according to the established guidelines. However, there is a possibility that the manuscript will be rejected immediately if it does not meet the requirements.

Peer Review Process

After going through desk review, the manuscript will be sent to two reviewers who have expertise in areas relevant to the topic of the manuscript. This review process generally takes between one to two months. Manuscripts that do not make it through the desk review stage will not be forwarded to the peer review stage.

Reviewer's Decision

The reviewer will provide recommendations in the form of:

  • Accepted; means the manuscript is accepted for publication.
  • Accepted with minor revisions; means the manuscript is accepted for publication after minor revisions based on reviewer feedback.
  • Accepted with major revisions; meaning the manuscript requires substantial revision, such as improving data analysis, adjusting key theories, or improving paragraph structure.
  • Rejected; means the manuscript was not accepted for publication or the review was concerned with fundamental problems that could not be fixed.
  • The reviewer's decision will be considered by the Editorial Team to determine the next steps in the publication process.

Revision Stage

Once the manuscript is accepted with minor or major revisions, it will be returned to the author along with a review summary form. Authors will be given two weeks to revise the manuscript accepted with major revisions, and one week for minor revisions.

Final Decision

At this stage, the manuscript will be re-evaluated by the Editorial Team to ensure that the author has made revisions in accordance with the reviewer's input. The manuscript may be rejected if the author does not make revisions seriously.

Proofreading

Once the manuscript is received by the Section Editor, the manuscript will go through a proofreading process to ensure good and correct language quality.

Publication Confirmation

At this stage, the final layout of the manuscript will be sent back to the author to ensure that the content is in accordance with the intended writing. The author can make revisions to any typographical errors found. After receiving confirmation from the author, the Section Editor will process the manuscript for online publication on the journal website.
